iOS 7 is blocking some third party non-certified cables from working with Apple devices, it has been reported.

9to5Mac says the warning that unapproved third party cables may not work is no longer an empty threat.

Some non-approved cables do seem to still work according to posts from iOS 7 users online but not all do.

9to5Mac published a workaround for people who find that the new Apple OS is blocking their cables but it is something of a pain to do every time you want to connect your device to the unapproved cable.

It says you could try this:

  1. Turn on USB power
  2. Plug in lightning cable to iPhone
  3. Dismiss any warnings
  4. Unlock your iPhone
  5. Dismiss any remaining warnings
  6. Wiith the screen turned on, unplug the cable
  7. Plug the cable back in and finally
  8. Dismiss warning again

Do you seriously want to go through that routine just to get a slightly cheaper cable?
