When people complain about laptops they tend to complain about battery life more than any other feature.
Well Apple’s Phil Schiller had something for the long-life battery fans at today’s WWDC conference.
He announced new MacBook Air machines with “all day” battery life (well a working day at least) thanks to the latest generation of Intel’s new Haswell chips.
The 11-inch model will see its battery life increase from five hours to nine while the 13-inch model gets a boost from seven hours to 12.
Schiller said: “With this battery life you could almost watch the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy in one go.”
Wi-Fi, on the new machine, will also be three times faster and they will feature 2x GPU execution units, enabling up to 40 percent faster graphics.
The machines, which start shipping right away, can also wake up in under a second and can run on standby for 30 days.
The 11 inch model is priced from $999 with 128GB of onboard flash storage while the 13-inch version starts at $1,199 and comes with 256GB of storage.
