Apple today took the unusual step of giving another company center stage at its WWDC.
After Tim Cook opened with the traditional numbers round up, he introduced Boris Sofman the founder of robotics and artificial intelligence company Anki – Japanese for memorize – who introduced a new app called Anki Drive.
He demonstrated Anki Drive which allows remote control cars to be raced around a track, all controlled from your iPhone via Bluetooth 4.0.
The cars can be programmed to detect other cars, block other drivers and they can even drive themselves by sensing what is going on around them on the track 500 times per second.
Sofman, described Anki Drive as “a video game in the real world” and while the iOS-exclusive game is available in beta version from the App Store today, the full version will be coming out in the fall.
